Utilizing small power carving tools
Wood Carving with hand tools work well for me. I personally prefer hand tools over mallet tools, but whenever I carve a larger carvings I do prefer mallet tools, But saying this I must say that in the last several years with arthritis that has developed in my hands and fingers, I have added the use of a power tool for smoothing and finishing the carvings.
Power tools can be a great benefit when I am finishing larger projects. They work well for sanding smoothing and removing any pencil marks that I have left on the carving. I personally use the power tool the most when my wood carving is basically finished and I want to put a finishing touch on the wood carving before adding a finish to the wood
Many of the inexpensive power tools used for carving can be purchased at any hardware department and have a variety of attachments and tips available. But if you want a power tool that is devoted only for wood carving. I would search the Internet to get the best deal and see the variety of the tools available.
